Belle’s Dress was Changed! My Review of Beauty and the Beast (Spoilers Ahead)

A couple weekends ago, my son and I attended Beauty and the Beast with the rest of the world. I bought our tickets and reserved our seats. I do NOT mess around when it comes to theater time. I need to know we’ve got our good seats saved. Luckily, there is a Regal near our home that does this.

We got our popcorn, drink, candy and took our seats. The previews felt like an eternity I was so excited AND then Emma Watson sang. “Little town.” I have the song memorized.

Why for the love of all that is holy did they alter her voice so much? I don’t think she has a bad voice. I feel like they were trying to make her sound like the previous Belle and you know what? They shouldn’t have.

I stil absolutely adored the movie and think she was perfect for the part. It was just hard to get over that, at first. The second hardest part was not belting out the songs in the theater.

LeFou (Josh Gad) and Gaston (Luke Evans) were perfect! So perfect, Gaston was my favorite character. I loved the tap dancing in his famous bar song. It was by far my favorite part. I also thought everyone was cast perfectly for their given parts.

My son’s favorite part was Belle and the Beast’s (Dan Stevens) journey to Paris. He thought it was amazing.

The added songs were amazing as well. I loved that they incorporated more of the town’s history into the story and told all about the servants and their lives before they were turned into inanimate (animated) objects. It was also spectacularly beautiful to have the knowledge about Belle’s mother and delve more deeply into the relationship with her father (Kevin Kline).

Now, the dress. Spoiler alert! The dress at the very end is different then the iconic yellow gown and I’m a little perturbed by this. Not sure why they changed it? Of course, Belle was beautiful as always, but why??? I need to know.

Overall, I’m in love with this movie and can’t wait for it to come out on DVD so I can belt out the songs in the comfort of my home. Without judgement.

Channeling my inner Belle.
