LYPBB Challenge Day 27: Listen to a Friend

I’ve got to admit, sometimes I am an awful friend. I talk too much and don’t let my friends speak, or I’m so busy with my own things I just can’t make time for them.

So for me, today’s challenge is necessary. It gives me a moment to stop and think about others before myself. When I actually listen to a friend I see their problems as well and try to help them the best I can.

Or, sometimes they don’t want my help, they just want someone to listen to their concerns and needs. Everyone needs someone to talk to. Even if it’s someone they’ve met online; sometimes you just want to get all the crap out there and off of your chest.

I was also reminded today of a very valuable lesson when speaking with a friend. We all have different priorities in life. What may be super important to me isn’t as important to them. And that is okay. While I am concerned about being here with my children every day, others are concerned about their careers. There is no right way to be a mother. We all have different dreams for our lives.

Acceptance of others is a large part of accepting ourselves. There are moms who want to be fit, or join MLM’s, and that’s great! Whatever works for them! It just isn’t for everyone.

I prefer to live my life a little less structured and with a lot less sacrifice. Some feel differently. I’m glad we all have differences in our lives to celebrate.
